Practice notes

An admin sets when the side practises, as patterns like every Wednesday. Each practice is then a date of its own. How a pattern works is under Practice dates in the admin pages.

What gets done at each practice

The Practice notes tab is a sheet of what the side worked on at each practice. It’s only there for whoever holds the office that plans the practices (the offices table says which), and for an admin. They fill it in, too.

The repertoire runs down the left and the practices run across the top, oldest on the left. The sheet opens on the last practice that has been, with the next six weeks to its right.

Each practice’s date says who’s running it, if anybody has been named. That’s the Responsible member on the practice’s own page, which opens when you tap the date.

Filling in a square

Each square is one dance at one practice, and holds one answer. To fill one in:

  1. Tap the square.
  2. Choose an answer in the panel that opens. Only the ones that practice’s date allows are offered.
  3. If there’s more to say, type it in What happened.
  4. Press Close.

Planned: Meant for that practice, but not done yet.

Taught: Gone through for the first time.

Practised: Worked on since it was taught.

Polished: As good as it’s going to get.

Nothing yet: Takes the answer off again.

Planned is only for a practice that’s still to come. Taught, Practised and Polished are only for one that has been. On the day of the practice, any of them can be chosen.

Changing a practice that has been asks you to confirm first. That way the record of what was done isn’t changed by mistake.

A note can say what actually happened, like “only the first figure” or “ran out of time”. It can be written without choosing any of the four answers.

Reading the sheet

Scroll left for earlier practices and right for later ones. More appear as you go, all the way back to the first practice and on to the last. Pressing Sort, beside the zoom, takes the sheet back to where it opened.

The sheet keeps every practice that has been, even once its pattern has ended or been removed. A pattern can also start on a date already gone by, which puts its earlier practices on the sheet, ready to fill in.

Under each dance’s name is when the side last actually did it. That goes back through all the records, not just the practices on screen. A dance that was only Planned doesn’t count.
