The offices of the side

An office is a job somebody holds for the side, like Squire or Foreman. It shows as a badge on the holder’s own page and on the Members page, so anybody can see who to ask about what.

One member can hold several offices, and one office can be held by several people.

Most offices are just a label. Some also let the holder do things in the app that the rest of the side can’t, and the table says what.

Office What it lets you do Who holds it
Squire Change the repertoire: add a dance, correct its tradition, put up its figures and a recording, or retire it. Add to the traditions and types that describe dances, too. Fill in anybody’s answers on the Dances tab. Change the music: add a tune, correct its key and time, put up the dots and a recording, or retire it. Add to the keys and times that describe tunes, and to the traditions they share with the dances, too. Fill in anybody’s answers on the Music tab. Build an event’s dance list, saying who’s dancing, who calls and who plays, and publish it to the side. one member
Foreman Change the repertoire: add a dance, correct its tradition, put up its figures and a recording, or retire it. Add to the traditions and types that describe dances, too. Build an event’s dance list, saying who’s dancing, who calls and who plays, and publish it to the side. Fill in the Practice notes tab: what’s planned for the practices still to come, and what was done at the ones that have been. Only this office and an admin have the tab. Setting the practice dates is for an admin. 3 members
Bagman Nothing extra in the app. It shows the side who to ask. one member
Secretary Put documents up on the Docs tab, and take them down again. Unlock minutes that have already been emailed to the side, so they can be corrected. Close, remind, keep running, put away or remove anybody’s poll, for when the person who started it is away. Only an admin can change a poll once it’s asked, and only whoever asked one can show what an anonymous one said. Anybody can still start a poll or vote. one member

Archivist Nothing extra in the app. It shows the side who to ask. 2 members

All members Put documents up on the Docs tab, and take them down again. everybody

An admin can do everything in the table as well, except build a dance list. Deciding who does what is a job, not a permission, so that stays with the office.

An office lets its holder do what the table says, and nothing more. It doesn’t open the admin pages: those come from being an admin.

Admins add and rename offices on the Roles page, under the Admin tab. They say who holds each one on that member’s own page.
